There's definitely some truth in the statement "opposites attract", especially when choosing a holiday destination.
Take me for instance. I grew up almost on the Equator and have lived on the Sunshine Coast for the last decade. Even though I love the Queensland weather, the beaches and the relaxed lifestyle, I always seem to find myself gazing longingly at brochures of destinations with snow-covered peaks and people rugged up in warm winter gear.
That's probably why I'm attracted to Canada. I've travelled to Canada at least once a year for the last four years and have been to more ski resorts you can count on two hands. My favourite winter destinations in Canada are Quebec City for its winter carnival, which is alot of fun for families, the Icefield Parkway and the Yukon.
Winter in the Yukon is a 360-degree experience. It's the snow and ice crunching under your feet. It's the crisp air and the endless fir forests drenched in what looks like vanilla ice-cream. Overhead, it's the night sky lit up with a billion sparkling stars and the aurora borealis, a light show to end them all.
