UPDATE 8:51 Youtube is now back up and running after a brief outage took the site down completely.
No explanation has been offered on the site's landing page.
Users had previously been complaining of specific channels and pages showing '500 errors', an error that indicates an internal server issue.
A similar problem occurred when Pakistan attempted to block Youtube domestically, only to shut the site down for two-thirds of the internet around the world.
8:30AM YOUTUBE, the popular video-hosting service owned by Google, is currently down.
As of writing the site simply shows an error message in plain text, with none of the site's usual features visible.
The message explains, tongue-in-cheek, that trained monkeys are currently working to fix the problem.
Checking the website DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.com shows the problem isn't limited to just Australia.
