Balloons released as Stephanie Scott farewelled

BUSINESSES shut and the townspeople of Leeton gathered to remember high school teacher Stephanie Scott in the small rural town on Wednesday.

A public gathering in the town was scheduled on Wednesday to coincide with the private funeral for the bride-to-be, held in Eugowra, New South Wales.

The private ceremony for family and friends was held in the same hall in which Ms Scott was due to marry her partner Aaron Leeson-Woolley almost two weeks ago.

Police have laid murder charges against school cleaner Vincent Stanford.
