Young songwriters urged to get creative for 2013 competition

The 2013 Young Songwriters competition opens on February 11, so young people are being urged to start writing music and lyrics

To be held during Youth Week on April 11 with - for the first time - a live panel of judges, the competition offers finalists a chance to perform live in front of their peers - a valuable experience for any aspiring musician.

Lismore City Council's Youth and Community Development Officer Lizette Twisleton said young songwriters can enter in the following categories: folk/country, hip hop, rock/indie, punk/metal and pop. A Young Songwriter of the Year will also be selected.

Prizes include recording time at SAE, microphones, leads, a BOSE sound system and a professional photo shoot. Entries can be submitted from February 11 until March 24.
