KYOGLE product Shannon Walker has been named in the Australian Rugby Union Sevens team for the second round of the World Series in Dubai this weekend.
Walker was a standout in the first round of the series on the Gold Coast last month.
He didn't play in the final against New Zealand after leaving the field with an injury in the semi-final.
Former Wollongbar-Alstonville centre Alex Gibbon also played on the Gold Coast but hasn't been named in the squad of 12.
The Australian side will play pool games against Wales, Scotland and Spain on Saturday. "We've put together our best possible squad," coach Michael O'Connor said.
"Sometimes it's difficult with players out with injury but this time we've managed to put together a good collection of players.
"It's a well-balanced team, with a lot of those who played on the Gold Coast.
"In my opinion it's the best squad we could have going into the next round."
Strong performances in the World Series and next year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow are to be part of Australia's quest to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
