Police later found Mr Monaghan's body in the front yard with numerous wounds.
It has been reported the man was allegedly stabbed to death in front of his teenage son.
Mr Francis has been remanded in custody on 10 charges stemming from the incident. Other charges include contravening a domestic violence order and attempted arson.
Francis faced Caboolture Magistrates Court yesterday charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count each of murder, entering a dwelling with intent, contravention of a domestic violence order, driving while disqualified, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and attempted arson.
Francis stared at the floor as Magistrate Jennifer Batts remanded him in custody and adjourned the case until June.
