Woman faces prison, fine for heroin charges

A 22-YEAR-OLD Vietnamese woman was charged over the weekend with importing almost 3kg of heroin.

According to a joint statement by Australian Federal Police and Customs, authorities will allege the woman arrived at Sydney International Airport on Saturday with Customs officers finding a white powder concealed inside soap.

They were discovered during an search of the woman's luggage.

The value of the suspected heroin is not yet known. The power is being tested further.

The woman is to face Sydney Central Local Court on Wednesday.

If found guilty, the 22-year-old could face 25 years in prison potentially including a $550,000 fine.
