A WOMAN in her mid-50s was reportedly struck by a car while riding her bike along Elizabeth St near the Botanic Gardens in Urangan.
The woman remains in a stable condition at the Hervey Bay Hospital and is expected to be sent to theatre today for surgery to treat a fracture sustained in her right leg.
The incident, about 6pm on Monday, was not attended to by police. Both the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and the ambulance were called to the scene.
The woman was taken to the Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
Details of the incident are unclear, but Queensland Government laws stipulate that a one-metre clearance must be provided by motorists to cyclists in areas at a 60km/h speed limit or less, and 1.5m where the speed limit is over 60km/h.
Charges have reportedly not been pressed against the driver of the vehicle.
Drivers can face up to 3 demerit points and a $341 find if the minimum clearance is not abided by.
