Woman assaulted, robbed in Sydney

DETECTIVES are investigating the indecent assault and robbery of a woman in south-west Sydney over the weekend.

The 20-year-old woman was grabbed from behind by a man as she walked through a vacant block of land shortly before 9.30pm on Saturday night.

Police have been told the man indecently assaulted her before pushing her to the ground and kneeing her in the face, causing her to briefly lose consciousness.

Authorities believe the man then grabbed her handbag and fled the scene.

The woman has told investigators she believes she first saw the man standing at a nearby bus shelter after she exited a bus.
