Win a gourmet Christmas gift pack

Instead of helping the Chinese economy this Christmas, why not spend your money at the Lismore Visitor Information Centre and support local producers by buying a beautiful gift pack of gourmet Northern Rivers goodies.

As well as encouraging people to buy local and save on transport miles, tourism co-ordinator Mitch Lowe has kindly donated two amazing gift packs worth $100 each for The Echo to giveaway to two lucky readers containing delicious products you can enjoy over the festive season.

“We support over 70 local suppliers and artisans by stocking their gourmet produce and unique handmade gifts at the VIC. It’s by far the best range of local produce and products in Lismore,” Mitch said. “There’s award winning local coffee, delicious chocolate-coated macadamias, olives and olive oil, rainforest jams and sauces, macadamia muesli, natural body products, handmade candles, jewellery and much more.”

Mitch says the locally produced treats make great stocking fillers or you can choose your own products and the friendly staff at the VIC will assemble a Christmas gift pack for you. If you need to send presents to relatives out of the area, it’s a great way to literally give them a taste of Northern Rivers life.

To check out the fantastic range of gourmet local products, drop into the Lismore Visitor Information Centre, right next to Heritage Park on the corner of Molesworth St and Ballina Rd, Lismore. It is open every day from 9.30am to 4pm, or you order a gift pack online at www.visitlismore.com.au.

The Lismore and Nimbin VICs are also celebrating after winning a bronze award for the second year running in the 2009 NSW Tourism Awards. Mitch said with more than 170 VICs operating in NSW, to be judged third best was a credit to the dedicated staff who welcome over 130,000 visitors to the region each year.

To go in the draw to win one of the $100 gift packs, simply tell us two local products that the VIC stocks (hint: check the above website). Either email your answer to terra@echonews.com, drop it into The Echo office at 218-232 Molesworth St, Lismore, or send it to Gift Pack Giveaway, PO Box 37, Lismore, NSW, 2480. Entries are due by Monday, December 14, and the winners will be announced in The Echo on Thursday, December 17.
