Whole lotta soul

THE HIPSTONES (pictured) are, well, hip.

They are one of the coolest soul music acts around and they're on their way to Lismore fresh from a two-month residency at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York.

It's an eight-piece stage show, dripping with onstage charisma and loaded with soul.

The Sydney Morning Herald's music critic Bernard Zuel regards The Hipstones as a "cross between 70s soul and George Benson".

The Hipstones will play the Star Court Theatre in Lismore on Saturday, September 29, from 7.30pm.

Tickets are $28/23 from Star Court Theatre (starcourttheatre.com.au/6622 5005).

FREEBIE: The Scene has a double pass to this gig to give away to some soulful reader. To go in the draw to win, phone 6623 0411 between 10.15 and 10.130am next Monday, September 24, and tell us with what group did Diana Ross sing.
