'Who the hell are they?': Angie explains jungle move
BEST friends Angie Kent and Yvie Jones are used to being in front of the camera.
The women and their many foster dogs became household names on Ten and Foxtel's reality TV co-production Gogglebox Australia.
But eight seasons and 14,000 Twitter followers later they have farewelled the show, swapping the comfort of their lounge room for the South African jungle in the new season of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
In an I'm A Celebrity first for Australia, the besties will enter the show on day one as a duo and then compete individually to avoid elimination. Previously, couples have entered only as intruders.
"I would have done it without her but knowing that she is going to be with me is so much more relaxing," Angie says. "I can always turn to her if I'm upset or having a freak-out, and visa versa with her too.
"One of the main reasons we left was as much as we loved Gogglebox, we couldn't do anything else... we didn't think this would be our first offer. It's amazing and scary at the same time."
The Queensland native, who grew up on the Sunshine Coast, should be scared. I'm A Celebrity is centred around taking high-profile people out of their comfort zones and pushing them to their limits in challenges involving creepy crawlies, heights and disgusting food.
The more the contestants squirm, gag and freak out, the higher the entertainment value for viewers, who vote to keep them on the show for a shot at the grand prize - $100,000 for their chosen charity.
"I think I'm going to be most frightened of not knowing what I'm sticking my hands into," Angie says.
"If they blindfold me and I have to walk through something, then I hate not knowing. I'd rather see what I'm jumping off. That fear of the unknown makes it worse.
"I also have the weakest stomach. I don't eat meat and I'm a coeliac, so I'm going to have to give up the whole not eating meat thing. I think there will be a lot of retching."
And what does she think of her Gogglebox co-stars watching her on the other side of the screen?
"It's going to be so weird," she says. "I'm pretty sure we cross over by two weeks and hopefully I'm still on (I'm A Celebrity). I think they're going to be so shocked."
Angie also says she isn't bothered if anyone questions her celebrity status to qualify going on the show.
"We've always made such a big deal that we're not celebrities (on Gogglebox), but you can't please everyone," she says.
"Everyone will have something to say. I'm sure a lot of people will probably be like 'Who the hell are they?'."
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! premieres on Sunday at 7.30pm on Ten.
