WIDELY known saddler Greg Grant and his wife Patricia have been killed in a freak accident while on holiday in India.

The couple, formerly of Lismore but more recently from Caloundra, were at the tail end of their trip on Friday evening (Australian time), heading to the airport in the Rajasthani town of Udaipur to fly back to Australia when a large truck collided with their taxi and they were both killed.

Their daughter Amanda and her husband Wroxton were following behind the couple in a second taxi and were not injured in the accident.

Greg grew up in Lismore and attended Lismore Public School and Lismore High School before moving to Queensland to open a successful saddlery business.

Greg was 69-years-old and Patricia was 68.

The details of the funeral are yet to be arranged.
