Weekend's big wet to be nothing like summer
INCREASINGLY cloudy conditions into the weekend are expected ahead of a wet Sunday with the chance of a thunder storm.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Michael Gray said totals would not be in the order of summer downpours.
On what would be a cloudy end to the weekend, he said totals in the order of 1-6mm generally were now expected with 12-13mm where isolated thunder storms occurred.
Mr Gray said a series of troughs were now moving across from the west but it would be a stronger upper level trough that would push into the Sunshine Coast on Saturday that brought the rainfall before clearing to sea on Monday evening.
Temperatures will continue to fall this weekend towards the June average of 21.4C at Sunshine Coast Airport.
However, a 25C maximum has been forecast for Friday ahead of that decline.
A dying swell will remain about a metre offshore with only the open northern beaches on the Sunshine Coast producing much in the way of waves.
Beach conditions have otherwise been perfect with light winds and a water temperature sitting on 21C.
Mr Gray said the bureau's 4pm forecast would bring greater focus to expected weekend conditions but at this point rain lingering into Monday seemed likely before the upper level trough cleared to sea.
Expect a three degree above average 24C maximum today with partly-cloudy conditions, light winds and all but no chance of rain.
He said Friday would peak at 25C after a 14C overnight minimum on what should be a mostly-sunny day with light winds.
A warm 15C overnight minimum into Saturday will precede a 23C maximum on a partly-cloudy day with light winds and a 50 per cent chance of any rain in the morning and afternoon.
Sunday's maximum will peak at 22C on a part-cloudy day with light winds and 2-6mm of rain expected.
Higher totals could be expected under isolated thunder storms.
More rain was forecast for Monday which would again be partly-cloudy before the trough cleared to sea overnight. Expect a 22C maximum which would drop to 21C on a mostly-sunny Tuesday with just the slight chance of a shower and light winds continuing.
