IT HAS been quite a fortnight for Ipswich's Shane Watson.
The Australian Test vice-captain has flown from India to Australia and back again, seen his wife give birth to the couple's first child and now could be named captain of the Australian Test team.
Yesterday Watson and his wife Lee released the first pictures of them with their newborn son Will.
In a statement on shanewatson.com.au they said mother and child were doing well.
"This has been the most amazing week of our lives with the birth of our little boy," Watson said.
On top of it all, he may make his return to the Test team as captain if Michael Clarke is declared unfit.
Clarke, the current captain is battling a flare-up of a chronic back injury and has backed Watson to step up if he can't play.
While Watson has captained his country in limited overs cricket, he would become the first Ipswich product to be named captain of the Test team.
