WANTED: Manhunt for tattooed man over murder on coast
A MANHUNT was underway on Friday night for a heavily tattooed male wanted over the stabbing murder of a father on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Peter Lesley Martyn, 44, was coming to the aid of two teenagers at a Flynns Beach home when he was attacked on New Year's Eve.
He was heard screaming for help before being discovered lying on the street in a pool of blood.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Sydney man Chad Misiepo who is also wanted for questioning over an assault at Sylvania in March.
Police believe Mr Misiepo, who is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance and 170-180cm tall with a medium build and tanned complexion, had only been in Port Macquarie but has links to the area, including Coffs Harbour.
He was last seen wearing a white shirt with a blue motif and shorts.
Meanwhile, Mr Martyn's brother Victor has flown from Darwin to comfort family at Port Macquarie.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Victor described his brother as a kind and happy man and said "any tip" the public could give, would be of help.
A strike force has been established on Friday and a full scale search was underway.
Mid North Coast Superintendent Paul Fehon warned the suspect was likely armed and should not be approached. Anyone who sees him should phone 000.
