WITH Christmas almost upon us, some of Santa's elves seem to have finished up their work at the North Pole early this year and have been spotted on the streets of Lismore.

Actually they are employed by Wicked Waiters and engaged by Lismore City Council to spread a bit of Christmas Cheer in the Lismore CBD.

City centre manager Renee Moehead said the elves will be on the streets right up to Christmas Eve, handing out candy canes and "activating" the city.

"The feedback I have got is that they have made people smile and been warmly received. On Saturday morning there was a line-up of people, both kids and adults, wanting to get a photo and a candy cane," she said.

The elves are part of Lismore's ongoing Come to the Heart campaign.
