Volunteers wanted for eco shop

EcoMart Northern Rivers is a new volunteer-driven organisation that’s creating an internet shop for fresh local produce and locally made goods. They are working towards an opening date of June 2010 and urgently need more volunteers.

The co-op aims to promote local primary production, urban agriculture and local businesses. Consumers, local shops and restaurants will be able to order from local producers via an internet shop. (For a demo visit www.nr.ecomartaustralia.org).

“The co-op aims to make local produce and goods the norm when you shop for groceries. If the community supports it now, local production will expand so that in the future, most fresh produce and a range of grocery items could be obtained locally, not from interstate and overseas,” EcoMart concept developer John Knapen said.

For information or to volunteer, phone EcoMart on 6681 2056 or email them at volunteer@ecomartaustralia.org.
