Volcanic festival a classical hit

THE Tyalgum Festival of classical music kicks off next weekend, on Friday, September 7 with Canadian pianist Avan Yu performing the 21st anniversary opening concert.

Tyalgum is a tiny but spunky village 25kms from Murwillumbah in the spectacular Mt Warning caldera.

The three-day festival will feature performances by leading Australian classical musicians such as the Camerata of St John's, cello/piano duo David Pereira and Timothy Young, and the Lunaire Collective, as well as a fringe event program of art exhibitions, street theatre and nature walks around the gorgeous surrounding caldera.

For program details and online bookings go to www.tyalgumfestival.com.au or phone 6679 2244.
