Daniel Vidot vows to fight for Broncs spot

UNDER-pressure Brisbane winger Daniel Vidot has vowed to thrive on the public criticism he's received from coach Wayne Bennett as he looks to rescue his career at the club he's always loved.

Bennett has not shied away from publicly criticising the 104kg giant, regularly pointing out how error-prone he can be.

Vidot made a staggering 225 metres against the Dragons in round seven but made a pair of costly mistakes in the 12-10 defeat.

He was not picked in the Broncos' 28-16 win over the Eels the following week.

The 25-year-old believes he can still produce a strong season in his native Brisbane, despite the criticism he's received, as well as the speculation - there were reports in March that South Sydney was after his signature.

"I'm real happy at the moment where it is, and I'm just going to let my footy take care of itself," Vidot said of his future at Red Hill.

"I just think it's a few errors that I need to get out of my game, and be a bit more consistent like last year.

"He (Bennett) is straight to the point and there's no mucking around. He's a good coach.

"There's no hate in the Broncos for me. Brisbane's always been my team since I was a kid. I've always wanted to play for them."

Vidot said he would now thrive on the pressure of being under the microscope, and was hopeful of picking up some more game time for the Broncos during the Origin period when the club's depth would be tested.

"There's a bit of pressure on me coming into games. I'm not used to being one of the fill-in players," he said.

"I didn't expect that at the start of this year - it was a bit of a wake-up call. But I just have to keep working hard to get that spot back.

"If I get that opportunity to chuck on the Broncs jersey again, I'll put my front foot forward and try to take the best of that opportunity."
