Vandals destroy kindy kids' artwork on Darling Downs

THE Cuddly Bears Children's Centre in Oakey was damaged by heartless vandals on Saturday.

Hoodlums sneaked onto the veranda and destroyed the hard work of the young students at the childcare centre.

Artwork which they spent hours making was torn down and destroyed in an act of mindless destruction.

Centre director Michelle Farquharson said the children were distressed by the act.

"Their parents were also upset to know that their children's artwork was defaced, torn down and ripped up," she said.

The vandalism took place on Saturday afternoon following renovation works at the York St centre.

Ms Farquharson received a call at 7pm that night from security telling her what had happened.

She said while nothing was stolen the damage was disappointed.

"How can anyone regardless of age do this to a place where children play?"

Workers were forced to clean up the centre on Mother's Day.

Ms Farquharson asked that anyone with information about the persons responsible to contact Oakey Police.
