Urbenville takes bull by the horns

Last year the Urbenville Village Festival & Bull Ride was cancelled due to flooding, so organisations are doubly excited about this year's event, which is a mass fundraiser for the Urbenville Rural Fire Service, Urbenville SES and the Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.

The National Rodeo Association Bull Ride is the highlight of the event, but there is a full day and night of activities happening on Saturday, February 11, for all ages.

It begins at 10am with lots of for the kids including face painting and children's activities by Urbenville Public School who will present a Kids' Area Fun Centre. There will also be an old motor show and displays of fencepost ripping.

A huge charity auction will be held in the afternoon during half-time of the bull ride with fantastic goods donated by local businesses going under the hammer. That evening, the fun continues with live music, entertainment, food and a bar.

The event is being held at the Urbenville Showground and organisers are still keen for more donations for the auction (6634 1339) as well and riders to enter the arena for the bull ride. Phone NRA direct on (07) 5495 8668 to enter.
