Uninvited guest had some unwelcome plants

A NEW Whiporie homeowner got a surprise to discover the property they had just bought came with a 51-year-old squatter and a modest crop of cannabis plants.

Police from the Richmond Local Area Command have reported on their Facebook page police were called to the house on Saturday afternoon to find the old and new owners, real estate agents, and their "guest".

Police said they also noticed several cannabis plants growing near the house. When asked about them, the woman who had been squatting in the house while it was being sold, conceded they were hers.

The woman was arrested and charged with cultivating a prohibited plant. The plants were dug up and removed.
