TV stars headed Down Under for Supanova
JEREMIAH stars and real-life mates Luke Perry and Malcolm-Jamal Warner are heading down under soon for the Supanova Pop Culture Expo.
The actors, who starred in the sci-fi series with Lord of the Rings and Entourage star Sean Astin, will meet fans in Brisbane and Adelaide next month as part of the expo's 10th anniversary.
The expo is a first for Warner, best known for his childhood role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show.
"I'm not sure what to expect," he said.
"I'm going to be open and I'm sure lot of people will want to talk about Cosby and Jeremiah.
"The show (Cosby) was a hugely successful show. It had such an impact on television culture that I'm proud to have been a part of it, but I'm also proud to have so much other work that has come post-Cosby."
Perry on the other hand, as a star of '90s TV hit Beverly Hills 90210, has attended a few pop culture expos over the years.
But the actor admits he worries about disappointing fans.
"My manager knows this stuff makes me nervous," he said.
"I'm not very good at it…. a lot of times they're disappointed. I don't know what to do about it. Maybe they're thinking 'hell he's a lot shorter than I thought'."
But most expo-goers offer positive feedback on their favourite fantasy and sci-fi shows, like Jeremiah.
"We didn't get to do as much Jeremiah as we wanted to in the States," said Perry.
"What we find when we go to things like this is that there are people who really like the show and that's really gratifying. You can work for years and have no idea if anybody's seen it or liked it."
It has been nearly a decade since filming wrapped on Jeremiah, which ran for two series, but Perry and Warner have remained friends ever since.
As two actors defined by their breakthrough roles, Perry on 90210 and Warner on The Cosby Show, they have a lot in common.
"We have a short-hand communication if you will," said Warner.
"Even having a hugely popular show, there's always that quest to be able to work consistently once that show is done. You don't want to only be known for one character for the rest of your life.
"There's definitely a lot to navigate if you're in this industry for longevity."
The Supanova Pop Culture Expo will be held at Brisbane's RNA Showgrounds from November 9 to 11.
Also appearing will be True Blood star Nelsan Ellis, Harry Potter star Tom Felton, Merlin stars Rupert Young and Tom Hopper, Bond villain Richard Kiel and Homeland star Morena Baccarin.
Tickets and more information can be found at the Supanova website.
