TV journalist mauled in dog attack

VETERAN television journalist Peter Harvey is recovering in hospital after being attacked by two dogs in a park yesterday.

The Channel Nine political reporter was walking his daughter's dog in Centennial Park in inner Sydney when the unrestrained bulldogs leapt at him, causing injuries severe enough to require surgery.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Harvey told radio station 3AW this morning he was likely to undergo skin graft surgery on his left leg on Wednesday.

"I'm doing a lot better than I was yesterday," he said. "I've been pumped full of morphine."

He described the wound as a deep gash.
