HONKY TONK LIFE: Jan Preston brings Winifred Atwell’s music back to the stage.

PIANIST extraordinaire Jan Preston is performing the Life and Music of Winifred Atwell at the Lismore Workers Club next Thursday, February 28.

The show celebrates the life and music of the honky tonk piano star, one of the most popular piano players of all time, who played to more than 20 million people world wide, had 11 top-10 hits, her own television show and was the first million-selling black artist in the UK.

Sir Elton John rated her among the elite piano players of the world.

A knockout boogie pianist and vocalist in her own right, Jan Preston and her band perform renditions of Winifred's iconic piano hits such as

The Black and White Rag,

Big Ben Boogie

and Bumble Boogie. The tunes start pumping out from 10.30am.
