TROY Kinne isn't a household name just yet.
But he's on his way.
The stand-up comedian and actor is up for his first Logie Award tonight.
Channel 9 will broadcast the 57th annual awards live from Melbourne's Crown Entertainment Complex.
The 37-year-old is nominated for the prestigious Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer for the first season of his 7MATE comedy sketch show Kinne.
"It still hasn't really sunk in that my name is being associated with the Logies," he told APN.
"My mum and dad are right into the Logies, Paul Hogan and Graham Kennedy, so it's weird.
"You go along thinking people are watching the show and you don't realise people in the industry are recognising you've done something."
Kinne plans to fly back from the US, where he is working on a movie script with mate Josh Lawson, to attend the awards.
It will be a surreal moment for the funny man, who used to write jokes for red carpet co-host Jules Lund.
"I used to write for the Fifi and Jules radio show and Jules always used to host the red carpet," he said.
"I used to write jokes for him, so it would be interesting if I could write him something to ask me, set myself up for a zinger. That would really test my acting skills."
The Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Newcomer was created in honour of Kennedy, who died in 2005, and has been awarded annually since 2006.
If Kinne wins, then he joins an accomplished group of recipients including Matt Preston, Jessica Marais, Chris Lilley and last year's winner Remy Hii, who is currently starring in the Netflix drama Marco Polo.
The 2015 Logie Awards air tonight at 7pm on Channel 9/WIN.
