Top of the crop of HSC drama

DRAMA WORKS, a showcase of nine of the best Northern Rivers HSC drama performances, will be on tonight, Thursday, September 6, at the Star Court Theatre in Lismore.

The North Coast Drama Collegiate, an association of drama teachers and students across the region's state and independent schools, will present group and individual performances from Richmond River, Lismore High, Kadina and Trinity schools in Lismore, Alstonville High, and regional high schools from Tweed Heads to Grafton. It's more than entertainment - it's an educational opportunity. Individual performances run from between six to eight minutes, and group performances are up to 12 minutes. Experienced theatregoers will find the variety of performances appealing, organiser Jack Eyles of Maclean High said, while those who come with students who want to study drama to HSC level will see the broad skills base teachers develop in their students in the course.

Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
