Three men arrested after unit break-in and assault

THREE men have been arrested after forcing their way into a unit in Sydney's west last night and assaulting a 24-year-old man.

A woman managed to escape when the trio barged into the Weston Street unit at Rosehill just after 11.15pm, police said.

Police detained the three alleged offenders at the scene, with each being brought down to the lobby and thoroughly searched. Tired residents gathered on the footpath outside waiting to be let back into their homes.

A witness said that he observed piles of money on the floor between the men that had been collected by police during the search.

"This one dude was abusing the cops while he was sitting on the wall. He was going off saying he had a pregnant wife," he said.

"There was loads of money too, easy six grand - a whole stack of 50s."

The victim was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition while three men - aged 22, 26 and 27 - are being questioned by police.
