Threatening note, plane evacuated

PASSENGERS were evacuated from a plane at Gold Coast airport this afternoon after a threatening note was found on board the Virgin aircraft bound for Sydney.

The suspect note was found on Flight DJ526 to Sydney just after passengers boarded the plane.

Australian Federal Police were called to search the plane but confirmed there was no danger to the public, calling the note a hoax.

Flight DJ526 was scheduled to embark for Sydney at 2pm but was delayed for up to an hour while the plane was searched and cleared.
