The sounds of Nimbin
We know that Nimbin has always been a cultural hub with more than its fair share of artists living in or near that village. Since the Aquarius Festival back in ’73, the Nimbin hills have produced many works of performance and visual art, and have reverberated with the sound of local music. But Nimbin muso Ewan James laments the current lack of opportunities for performers and musicians to strut their stuff in Nimbin (apart from the Blue Moon Cabaret and hotel gigs).
His response is Folk Revival: Nimbin Re-Visions – which has its first gig (hopefully of many) at Tuntable Community Hall next Thursday, April 15.
This gig showcases the depth of talent that Nimbin has to offer. And it’s great to see that a funky venue is being provided so we can all enjoy the musical feast.
Performers for Folk Revival No. 1 are Air Eleven (duo), Mick Daley, Michael Fairley, Hannah from Utah, The Pepper Boys, Rebecca Ireland, Ewan James, Mim Handley and Neil Pike. What a top line-up for a special gig in a beautiful local hall.
The doors open at 7pm and the tunes start at 7.30pm.
