A TAXI driver has been left with cuts and bruises to his face after being bashed by a customer during an early morning fare to Rangeville.

It is alleged his 19-year-old attacker did not stop his violent behaviour after fleeing the cab, with a man and a woman assaulted after finding the teenager in their yard.

A police spokeswoman said the 44-year-old Black and White Cab driver picked up the man at a Wilsonton Heights address and took him to a Perth St home about 2.45am yesterday.

The spokeswoman said the cab driver was punched a number of times after pulling up at the requested address.

It caused cuts to his right eye and cheek as well as his forehead.

She said there was also pronounced bruising to his face and upper chest.

It is alleged some people from the home came out to speak to the 19-year-old, which resulted in him fleeing to a yard further down the street.

The spokeswoman said a 46-year-old woman and 44-year-old man came out of a home in the yard and were assaulted by the suspect.

She said the police dog squad was called and officers located the suspect in the same yard.

The injured driver was taken by ambulance to Toowoomba Hospital but was discharged later that morning.

Black and White Cabs manager Mat Kroehn said the driver was in good spirits despite the attack.

"Police have retained the vehicle for evidence extraction," Mr Kroehn said.

"Generally speaking, the Toowoomba travelling public are well behaved and fortunately, such events are extremely rare."

Dylan Jacob McLeod appeared in custody in Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday morning on six charges including assault occasioning bodily harm, two counts of common assault, wilful damage, trespass and contravening a direction.

His bail application was adjourned for him to reappear in the same court this morning.

He was remanded in custody.
