A teenager was caught speeding at nearly 200kmh on the Hume Highway in New South Wales on Saturday.

The 19-year-old South Australian woman had her driving privileges suspended and her car impounded after police caught her speeding near Yass.

NSW Police charged her with driving at speed in a dangerous manner, and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45kmh.

Police will allege she was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer at 198kmh when she fronts Yass Local Court in early February.
