Teen allegedly raped and murdered in ‘honour killing’

FRIENDS and fans of an aspiring make-up artist have paid tribute to the "beautiful" teenager after she was allegedly kidnapped and murdered in an apparent "honour killing".

The body of Celine Dookhran, 19, was found in a South London home that was being renovated last Wednesday.
Police made the grisly discovery after a second woman, who had also been kidnapped and was suffering from stab and slash wounds, tipped them off after she managed to escape.

Prosecutors allege Ms Dookhran had been kidnapped, tasered, raped and killed over her "relationship with an Arab Muslim" man.

Mujahid Arshid, 33, of Indian Muslim heritage, faced court charged with the kidnap, rape and murder of the 19-year-old, as well as the kidnap, rape and attempted murder of the second woman in her twenties.

Another 28-year-old man Vincent Tappu is charged with kidnap of both women. A third person, a 29-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Prosecutor Binita Roscoe told the court: "The deceased was involved in a relationship with an Arab Muslim and the family members didn't approve of this relationship because they are Indian Muslims."

The court heard how the Dookhran's body was allegedly found in a freezer after being tasered and assaulted. A post-mortem described her cause of death as a wound to the neck.

Online users left tributes to the young make-up artist praying that she has "eternal peace."

"R. I. P #celinedookhran, even from school times I knew you had it all set for you. Never ever forgotten, rest up beautiful," (sic) wrote one.

Lorna Lake said "there's no honour in the way you were murdered. I'm so sorry for you and your friend. Rest in Peace".

Another user Jess said "Such a dreadful read about this gorgeous young girl @Celine_Dookhran falling in love with the 'wrong Muslim' honour killing must stop R.I.P."

Ms Dookhran's social media account, which has since been removed, showed a bubbly young woman who posted a final message on July 11, saying "Alhamdulilah (praise to God) for everything that's all I can say."

At the time her body was found, UK police Detective Chief Inspector Sam Price condemned the "despicable attack" at the time her body was found.

"We are doing everything we can to fully understand the circumstances of this despicable attack on two young women.

The death of the 19-year-old woman is being treated as murder and the attack on the 21-year-old is being treated as attempted murder. We are appealing for anyone with information to contact us."

Arshid will appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, July 28 before both men face court again on August 21.
