Sydney taxi driver in coma after stabbing attack

AN ELDERLY taxi driver is in a coma following a frenzied stabbing in Sydney.

The 71-year-old had been stabbed at least 10 times in the neck and shoulder when he was discovered slumped over the wheel of his cab in Surry Hills late on Monday.

He was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital where he remained in a serious condition.

Police are searching for a man aged 30-40 who was last seen running towards Crown St wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, blue denim shorts and a red hat.
