Leaked plans show Sydney airport will rival JFK

LEAKED plans reveal Sydney's second airport will rival New York's JFK airport in size and involve the biggest earthmoving project since the Snowy Mountains Scheme.

The Badgerys Creek project is set to service twice as many passengers as Sydney international airport, News Corp found.

A map of the first stage of construction includes a 3.7km runway with a second runway the same size to be built by 2050.

By then, it will take 80 million passengers a year. Work on the first stage is set to begin mid next year and take eight years.
