JUST when they thought it couldn't get any worse, the Gold Coast Suns have been hit by more injury problems ahead of Saturday night's QClash at Metricon Stadium.
Captain Gary Ablett (shoulder) and Jaeger O'Meara (knee) have been joined on the sidelines by David Swallow (pictured) and Nick Malceski.
Swallow, last season's best and fairest winner, will miss a minimum of eight weeks with a strained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, while Malceski will miss two weeks with knee soreness.
Suns general manager of football operations Marcus Ashcroft said Swallow would see a specialist today to work out whether he would need surgery.
Tall forward Sam Day, who played in the NEAFL at the weekend, will also miss four to six weeks with a dislocated elbow.
The Suns and the Brisbane Lions are yet to win a game this season from four starts and Ashcroft said the injuries were the last thing the club needed.
"On the back of an unacceptable on-field performance last weekend, these injuries are disappointing and place extra responsibility on our entire playing group to persevere through adverse times," he said.
