Suspected terrorist fronts court

VICTORIAN and Australian Federal police have charged a 23-year-old man with terrorism offences.

The man was due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon.

He has been charged with four counts of collecting or making documents likely to facilitate terrorist acts.

The charges have stemmed from a Joint Counter Terrorism Team investigation.

AFP and Victoria police officers executed simultaneous search warrants in the Melbourne suburbs of Narre Warren South, Craigieburn, Hallam, Officer, Springvale South and Noble Park on Wednesday.

Officers seized a number of items, including a USB allegedly containing violent extremist materials, computer equipment, imitation firearms and a number of registered firearms.
