Super tour guide calls it a day

After more than 20 years of “If you just look to your left…” and “on your right…”, the Combined Pensioners & Superannuants Association tour director, Marge Unicombe, is hanging up her microphone.

The group held a special thank you luncheon for Marge last week recognising her countless hours of volunteer service, guiding group members on regular tours around the region and beyond.

“I love people, I love talking to people,” Marge said. “We used to go for one or two trips a year and then every month have a different outing. I’ve seen some very interesting things and met wonderful people. I’ve loved it.”

President Veronica McDonald said Marge would be sorely missed.

“I worked with Marge as her offsider for a few years – she is a very caring, compassionate person,” Veronica said. “It’s not an easy job trying to organise all of us… and she used to try and keep everyone happy, which is even harder!

“She will definitely be missed – her replacement certainly has big shoes to fill.”
