Strong case for arts centre

If ever an overwhelming argument for a new arts centre needed to be demonstrated, last Friday night’s opening at the Lismore Gallery was a case in point.

There were queues down the road to get into the exhibition space, which was crammed wall to wall with people. Nobody could hear the winners being announced, the heat was unbearable and if you wanted to view the paintings you may as well have stayed home and read the front page of The Echo.

Many people including exhibitors had travelled distances to see this show – the crush was unbelievable!

We will all have to travel once again to view the Northern Rivers Portrait Prize.
