Italo Stars alumni to relive soccer glory days at reunion

ITALO Stars Football Club will hold its inaugural Old Boys day at the Italo-Australian Club, North Lismore, on August 8.

The formation of the Old Boys club was the brainchild of two former Stars players, Warren Walker and Iain Mumford, who had been organising a reunion for the all-conquering Stars Over-35s team from the 2001-03 seasons when the idea struck.

They found it impossible to narrow it down to one team due to player changes over the three seasons, so it was decided to open it up to all past Stars players, hence the Old Boys.

The response from past players and the club board was instantaneous. A few players from the first Stars 1966 team will attend, along with players from every season since.

Next year will be the club's 50th anniversary and the first division side this year is on track to gain promotion back into the premier league.

With the old boys there to cheer on the first and fourth division sides, it promises to be an entertaining day.

Celebrations start at noon.
