SPORT and event TV are at the heart of Network Ten's ambitious plans for 2014.
The broadcaster launched its programming for the first half of next year in Sydney last night.
The biggest slate of summer sport in Ten's history includes the free-to-air broadcast rights for the T20 Big Bash League and exclusive rights for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Ten will use the sporting drawcards to promote its event TV early next year, most notably the resurrected So You Think You Can Dance Australia, The Biggest Loser: Challenge Australia and long-running reality cooking show MasterChef.
Celebrity chef Kylie Kwong will join the show's sixth series as a regular mentor, with Ten's chief programming officer Beverley McGarvey promising MasterChef will be "less scripted" and more unpredictable.
"The new line-up clearly demonstrates Ten's focus on event TV and people aged 25 to 54 - the biggest and most important age group in television - and represents our strongest start for many years," said Ten CEO Hamish McLennan.
Ten's 2014 line-up also includes a healthy dose of Aussie drama including new Asher Keddie vehicle Party Tricks, the return of quirky Melbourne drama Offspring, acclaimed '70s series Puberty Blues and the new Brisbane-filmed crime drama Secrets & Lies, the rights to which have already been sold to the US.
A mystery new show will debut in Ten's primetime 6pm time slot next year, replacing The Simpsons.
Mr McLennan remained tight-lipped on the new show, which will lead into the popular Project at 6.30pm, saying details were still confidential.
Ten also confirmed it has commissioned a second series of The Bachelor for next year.
The grand final of the inaugural series, which has not been a runaway ratings hit but has performed strongly online and in social media, airs tonight.
