Socceroos wait for news on fate of Cup stadium

THE Socceroos should find out from FIFA this morning if their final World Cup pool match, against Spain, will be moved to another venue.

The Australians have been drawn to take on the reigning champions in Curitiba on June 23 at the Brazil tournament, but the Arena da Baixada is falling well behind the deadline date for completion - originally December 31.

The schedule of the Socceroos and travelling supporters will be thrown into disarray if Curitiba is axed as a host city.

There are also problems at another venue to be used by the Socceroos. An independent inspector will investigate possible structural damage following a fire at the stadium in

Cuiaba, in western Brazil, which is to host the Aussies' first match, against Chile on June 13.

Meanwhile, Alessandro Del Piero has confirmed he will play for the A-League All Stars against his former club, Juventus, in Sydney on August 10.
