Brad wins national Snap-on Tools honour 16 years in a row

SINCE Brad and Narelle Watts took over Snap-on Tools in Rockhampton 16 years ago the business has won the top national franchisee award every year.

The couple and their team of five staff not only took out the award again in 2012, but also won the top business unit against 165 other franchises at the company's annual franchising conference.

Mr Watts yesterday said while they enjoyed the wins, the business didn't aim to take out the awards.

"We live and breathe the product and it not only shows in sales, but it rubs off on our customers," he said.

"We've got a unique sales system where we go to our customer with our mobile display vans, rather than waiting for them to come to us. We run a multiple number of trucks."

Mr Watts put their success down to surrounding themselves with great people - both staff and customers.

He said staff members' passion for the product was obvious.

Mr Watts said his wife and family were often the unsung heroes as the business grew and managed to hit its high standards each year.

"It's been an excellent journey for my wife and I," he said.

"It's not just my wife, but my family too ... they're behind the scenes, but they do the hard slog."
