FOR Wendy Evans's sisters Michelle and Debbie, the first day of the coronial inquest into her death proved harrowing yet satisfying.

It was the first time Wendy Evans's younger sisters had heard the details of their sister's murder.

"I was just five and Debbie 13 when our sister died," Michelle Tuitufu said.

"Mum kept a lot of things from us because we were so young at the time.

"We didn't know how horrific the crime was or how many people there were involved."

Mrs Tuitufu travelled from Sydney with her 18-year-old daughter Emily and sister Debbie Sneddon to watch the inquest.

The family sat in the front row of a packed Courtroom 5 in the Toowoomba Courthouse alongside Lorraine Wilson's brother Eric and his partner Anne.

Like the Wilsons, Mrs Tuitufu was grateful the investigation into her sister's murder had reached this point.

"We thank Eric and his family for keeping this going so we could get to today," Mrs Tuitufu said.

"I just hope people like them (her sister's killers) learn that they can never get away with it.

"Even though they've had their freedom for 39 years and hope now they get locked up."
