Sia has announced her upcoming album, This is Acting, is comprised completely of songs she wrote for other artists who rejected them.

AUSTRALIAN artist Sia is known for her unpredictability, so it's fitting that she announce the release date of her new album in a cryptic way.

This Is Acting will be available on January 29, with both the day and cover art revealed, piece by piece, on Instagram.

The singer-songwriter says her new offering consists entirely of songs she wrote for other artists.

She has previously said her recent single Alive, was written for English singer Adele but was turned down.

The track was also sidelined by Rihanna.

Demi Lovato is another performer who snubbed the talented songwriter.

"I'm calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so i didn't go into it thinking, 'This is something I would say," Sia told NME.

"It's more like play-acting. It's fun."

Sia broke out as a solo artist in 2014 with her smash hit Chandelier.

Prior to that she primarily penned tunes for pop divas like Beyoncé and Rihanna.
