LISMORE has doubled its chances of taking out an award at the NSW Tourism Awards after being shortlisted in two categories.
The Lismore Come to the Heart marketing campaign has been named as a finalist in the Destination Marketing category, while the Lismore and Nimbin Visitor Information Centres have continued their stellar reputation by making the shortlist for the Visitor Centre category.
The twin centres, which took out a gold award in 2010 and silver in 2011, have recently undergone a facelift, with Lismore getting a completely refurbished rainforest display, floor-to-ceiling historical panel collection, and an Aboriginal art gallery.
The Come to the Heart campaign, started in 2009, has helped create an identity for Lismore as a happening regional centre and driven major projects such as the Back Alley Gallery.
City Centre manager Renee Moehead said the campaign aimed to support Lismore's "fantastic local businesses".
"Come to the Heart asks people who live here to love their community and shop locally, and I think that really strikes a chord," Ms Moehead said.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on November 28 in Sydney.
