Ocean waters off seven North Coast rivers have been temporarily closed to fishing in order to protect fish and small prawns washed out of the rivers as a result of recent floods. The NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) has declared a ban prawn trawling and fishing off the mouths of the Richmond, Evans, Clarence, Bellinger, Nambucca, Macleay and Hastings Rivers. The closures will be in place until February 11, except for the Bellinger which will be closed until February 18. Detailed information on the fishing closures is available at www.dpi.nsw.gov.au.
