She's a winner with heart

Local performer Candice Casagrande has been shortlisted as a top 12 finalist of the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition hosted by APRA.

This is huge because more than 3000 young songwriters across the nation entered including artists such as ARIA award winner Claire Bowditch, Australian Idol finalist Matt Corby and Megan Washington.

At only 23 years old, Candice Casagrande’s mature folk/pop sound caught the attention of the industry heavy weights on the judging panel - Simon Moor (Sony/ATV), Tim Finn (Crowded House) and Josh Pyke.

But wait, there’s more!

Candice also scored first prize this week for Best Lyrics and Music (and was third overall) in the international 100% Music Songwriting Contest with her song Behind Closed Doors, an emotive song highlighting human trafficking.

Congratulations on your good work, Candice.

The Vanda & Young Comp winner will be announced on December 1. Stay tuned.
