Seeing the bush as art

Wind through the Trees
Wind through the Trees

The first exhibition of the year at the Roxy Gallery in Kyogle is by Green Pigeon resident Ron Nolan. He has strong links to the gallery, having worked as curator when the gallery was situated in Kyogle's original Roxy Theatre building.

Now he has returned to the gallery as an exhibitor with Bushworks.

As a painter, Ron depicts his response to his immediate environment. As someone who sees the importance of maintaining the landscapes of this region, Ron's paintings encapsulate the precious nature of our surrounds.

The official opening is this Friday, February 3, from 6-8pm. Bushworks runs till March 3.

For more info phone the gallery on 6633 1441.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
